 JUNE 3rd 2017

The Queen of River Theatre, Lois Pearlman, takes the stage with her hilarious one woman show!

What would you do if somebody offered you over half a million dollars to leave your rent controlled apartment?

That’s the dilemma Manhattan artist Jean Herman faces in the new one-woman play, Last of the Red Hot Tenants, coming to Katie Ketchum’s Dream Portal Studio Gallery in Sebastopol June 3.

Written and performed by Lois Pearlman, the play, tells Jean’s story, and explains how a third-floor walk-up ended up embedded in the side of a 31-story high rise.

The play is based on Jean Herman’s true story and a previous play by Michael D. Fels. It is directed by Diana Grogg.

Sebastopol artist, Francine Krause, who saw the play at its world premiere in Occidental, said, “Pearlman's script and performance were believable, heartfelt, funny, poignant, and relevant. I recommend that this play be seen by everyone, hands down."

Pearlman is a long time Sonoma County theater artist and journalist, having performed in dozens of local productions and written for several local newspapers.

This play brings together my life as a theater artist, a writer and an activist for peace and justice,” Pearlman said. “It’s about doing the right thing, even when the odds are against you.”

Doors open at 1:30 p,m, for a 2 p.m. performance. Admission is $10 to $20 sliding scale, which includes a food and wine reception following the performance

Roses and Birds Video  click for youtube

Roses and Birds by Katie Ketchum copyright 2016

Go to her with your anger

Go to her with your doubt

Go to her when you're full of fear

Go to her in confusion

And she will give you Roses

And she will give you birds that sing

And she will give you the deepest love she brings

Go to her when you've lost all hope

Go to her when you need a friend

Go to her with gratitiude

Go to her with a loving heart.

And she will give you Roses

And she will give you birds that sing

And she will give you the deepest love she brings.
